Jury Exam Repertoire
on: December 03, 2008, 06:17:32 PM
I am a piano concentration student at UNT and I am trying to pick out some music for my exam next semester.  Nothing too difficult, no crazy Rachmaninoff pieces like that or anything.  To give you an idea I played Brahms's Rhapsody op. 79 no. 2, A Bach suite, Clementi Sonata and an easy Chopin etude this semester.  So pretty simple stuff - I'd like something kind of obscure and  haunting for my program this semester.  I need a Sonata, Etude, Prelude/Fugue and another piece of any style. If you have any suggestions I would really appreciate them! ;D

Sonata: maybe Beethoven's op 90, or op. 10, or Mozart's op. 330

Etude: some of the easiest chopin etudes

Prelude/Fugue: WTC II 14, WTC I 20

And, from another style, I would try Castilla or Sevilla from Albeniz's Suite española, or Liszt's Valse Oubliee 1, or a Chopin's difficult nocturne. And you can also try some Mendelssohn's Songs without words.

for the sonata how about Medtner sonata tragica

for the prelude and fugue: Mendelssohn op.35 no.1

for the etude: one of Chopin " trois nouvelles etudes " or whatever they are called

for the free choice work: Beethoven 32 variations in c minor
