on: December 16, 2008, 06:33:49 PM
Do you have a bust or model of a composer on your piano or anywhere else? if so who is it?

I have a tiny bust Beethoven on my piano! 8) I want to get one of Bach and Chopin - can you even get one of Chopin? I haven't come acrosss one yet.

I had some pictures of composers above my instrument at my old house.  :D

But now I have moved, it is now situated in the conservatory. The pics have nowhere to go.  :'(

Perhaps some small models would be better.  8)

I will start looking for some.  ;D

I have a tiny bust of beethoven on my chest of drawers in my bedroom.
Bought it on a trip to Vienna.

perhaps a model made of a "stress-ball" type material would be useful.

I know that I have had need for one before.

Or one that pours scotch onto a cup when you press a button.
Maybe I'll place my manneken pis model on my piano table someday.

Was given a Chopin bust several years ago.  Sits on a shelf.  I dislike having any decorative objects on my piano so you'll never find it on there.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Well, I have three heads and shoulders that were given to me by some students.  I have Beethoven, Bach and Mozart.  They just sit on a shelf.

As you guys are mentioning pictures, I have cut out pictures of Bach and Mozart on my bedroom wall, need to get hold of one of Beethoven and Chopin though.

I would love to get a poster of Beethoven! he is my 'pop idle' lol ;D

Maybe my bust of Beethoven came from some gift shop in Vienna too? I got mine from a charity shop!

I have often thought a bust of a composer that talks would be fun and very annoying
( gimcky). I can just imagine a talking Beethoven bust that says ' Pratice harder!' or laughs at your rubbish attempt to play one of his pieces in his loud laugh ' hah hah ugagag!'  and says a quote like: ' There is only ONE Beethoven!'

Of course you would press a button on the stand for these coments! or you would end up with a broken model.

Maybe a bust of Beethoven with an articulated arm/catapult that would throw tableware at you when you miss a note.

Okay, I am going to take my set of three busts  :o ;D to the piano with me now, and those guys are going to sit there watching me.  And, Thal, no that is not why I am called "Karli" ... at least not that I know of  :P.

Good idea! or it a strikes your hands with a stick or throws chair at you if you miss out the dynamics! :'( :o  Beethoven was very touchy about students missing out the dynamics I read somewhere...

I have a poster above my piano called the great composers it has a picture of them and lists some notablwe works by them

but i have notcied a few errors and bizzare notible works
for example under Beethoven notable works it mentions Welligtons siege and the triple concerto but doesn't mention his piano concertos

and the biggest error is under Richard Strauss it lists the Blue danube waltz and has picture of Johann Strauss

So, I have to say that practicing with my composer busts sitting there looking at me from the music rack, well, it kind of makes me feel more responsible for what I am doing.  I also kinda feel like I am performing.  I will admit, I like having them there :).  Sometimes they don't appear to be very pleased though ... but I always make up for it :).

Thal - don't forget the shoulders that were also given to her along with the 3 heads.

I almost wish I had 3 busts - but that would be a little *too* weird, even for me.

I'll take a Bach sculpture that pours tequila though, in case anyone is offering.

Beethoven needs to be in stress-ball form.

Another thought. It would be so cool if they made a bendy rubber model of Chopin! That you could pose in different positions! - including his hands and fingers!  ;D 8)

No, but my teacher has several mini-busts on her piano. When I'm done playing I always look up to see them staring down angrily at me, like I just butchered their music  ???
Working on:
Beethoven - Waldstein Sonata
Bach - C minor WTC I
Liszt - Liebestraume no. 3
Chopin - etude 25-12
