BWV 645 Wachet auf Piano Transcription?
on: June 01, 2004, 07:08:49 PM
I have been looking for a piano arrangement for this familiar Bach chorale/organ selection for some time. I have heard some nice renditions, so I know they exist. I am not that familiar with the Bach catalog system, and have been disappointed to find only snippits other selections with seemingly the same name or number. The one I seek is in E Flat + and begins Bf-Ef-F-G-G-F-Af-G... The full name and number is Wachet auf ruft uns die Stimme´ BWV 645.

If anyone knows of a web supplier with the goods for this one selection only (ie: not a book). Or heck, if you've got a pdf or photocopy to email, I've got lots or Bach & Beethoven to trade!

I have a PDF of the "Bach Book for Harriet Cohen" which includes Granville Bantock's version of this piece.  It is a 4 MB file.  Contact me if you want me to email it to you.

Hello Joell12068,

Does the "Bach Book for Harriet Cohen" have the finger numbering system for that Cantate ?  If so, would you please send me a copy ?

Friendly yours,

Sylvain

The person you have addressed that to might well have died of old age.

The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more
