Beethoven Piano Sonata no. 1- pedal help

hey guys, im having trouble figuring out the pedaling for the section after the beginning, the part thats like the descent from the mannheim rocket in the beginning, with the left hand playing some accompaniment. (sorry i dont know any technical terminology for this stuff, i never really studied theory, and i still havent talked to my piano teacher about it) but i thought some of our more learned players can shed some light on this.

I think it is reasonable to use the pedals prudently for an early beethoven sonata. historically speaking, beethoven's pianoforte did have pedals but the tone of his instrument was obviously not like our contemporary models and the player should, if interested in achieving historical accuracy or maintaining a respect for the manuscript as written. I'd suggest that you pedal for dramatic emphasis only and enjoy the music!

When I played this sonata last year I only used very gentle pedaling, on the first page, mostly lasting just for one count. After the first bar, when you've gone for the small crescendo, you can try some minor pedaling by the time you hit A, and some more the second time, after the somewhat larger crescendo that comes next.
I hope this made some sense. I could explain, so much better in Greek...

about the pedal in the early part of Mvt No 1 i think it is best not to use it the but at the chord just before where the Mvt 1 finishes on the A flat chord (half way point).
