Never mind being bored enough to make a thread on it, you must have been pretty bored (or constantly harassed by inexplicably obsessed friends as I was) to read the books in the first place ::). The whole series exists to pander to teenage girls' hormones. It is not literature. I will give Stephanie Meyer credit though - she figured out that the way to make money is not to write good books, but to appeal to perhaps the silliest sector of the population  ::)

EDIT: And yes, I am a teenage girl myself.
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

I like that song, it's so nice - but i'm sure i've heard that was just a fake-soundtrack-diversion type thing cause the actual soundtrack doesn't have any yiruma tracks in it - monique (one of my weirdo friends ::) ) should know ;)

Look around you... People figured that out long ago... lol ;D
But hey, at least it gets them reading. Maybe some of them will make the step into more developed literature that will make a lasting effect in their lives instead of being forgotten in a few months when the next "boy meets girl" thingy comes out.

btw it's just a general comment. I've never read twilight not do I intend to.
All I know from the series is the movie trailer.
I am perfectly normal, it is everyone else who is strange.

I love both the books and the film. Yes, I am a teenage girl, but not raving to the point of some.
The books I love because of the interaction between Edward and Bella. The way he sort of teases her and just generally the way they act. It appeals to my romantic side (which is a large part of me)
The film was fairly true to the book. Not as much interaction of the type that I like, but it was very intense. I liked that emotional depth that it conveyed.

pianochick, u sound a lot like me, but i think for the movie they could have found better actors and actresses, the books were good but they lost their fire with the later books

Yeah, I agree there. I'm not sure that Edward in the movie really worked. He looked too fierce the first time we saw him, and not at all the supremely attractive guy he was meant to be.

I think he was about the right paleness, but there was too much contrast between his features, which made his face look overly pale. The darkness I sort of liked about the movie, it gave it an intensity that was really effective.
