Fink Video
on: June 06, 2004, 09:27:48 PM
My Fink book is on the way. From Amazon.com, 17$US. I was about to order the video, but thought i'd enquire first if there is any other online sources to buy from other than Amedeus. 25$US for the video, 15$US for shipping.
While on the topic, there has been a few suggested readings, one on Mozart piano music (forget the title), Rosen's 'Classical Style', Chopin: The Pianist's Repertoire: A Graded Practical Guide (The Pianist's Repertoire) - Eleanor Bailie; Paperback 50$Us
Any other absolute musts? Or suggested Website reading?
How is "Piano Technique - Walter Gieseking"?

I've heard this is a really good book but that you need the video for it to be of any use. The problem is I'm in the UK and the only videos I've seen available are in NTSC format.
Does anybody know if there's a PAL version or if there's any plan for there to be a PAL version?

Hi everybody !
Just to "reactivate" that question about the existence or not of a PAL or DVD version of Fink video...
Cheers,

Yeah, I really would like to have a DVD as well. I do not have a video playing: obsolete.
But I don't think a DVD is on the market, otherwise it would be much easier to find....

Could someone who has the video convert it to a PC compatible file ? A webcam filming the TV for instance ? The quality might be mediocre but it might be worth trying... !

My web site (URL below) might be of interest to you, especially because I review many of the books you mentioned (go to reference section near the end).

I bought some time ago the video. Unfortunately my VCR doesn't read NTSC. Even if it does, the tape would be damaged very quickly I think ...
I'm still looking for a way to transfer it to DVD.

I asked the publisher's of Fink's book if they were planning to issue a DVD version of the video, and they replied that it was not on the marketing agenda (I forgot who replied, I actually send a mail to 3 people, customer service and marketing).
Maybe if there was a higher demand they would issue it... So maybe more people should request it...

Hurray !!!
I just received this e-mail:
>Dear Mr. Klugkist,
>Thank you for your inquiry about producing a DVD to replace the video on >Mastering Piano Technique. We have plans in the works to do just that.
>We also are thinking about publishing the DVD and packaging it with the book. >What do you think about that idea?
>Regards,
>Linda
>Linda Heimburg
>Press & Publicity
>Amadeus Press, LLC
>973-835-6375 ext. 206
Maybe those who bought the book can get a discount. I hope they do not get pissed with all the e-mails..... So finally a DVD will become available, we are being heard !!!
