Seemed awfully cold. Was it playback?

I would have like to see more camera on Gabriela Montero and Anthony McGill.  Most of the time they were shooting Itzhak Perlman and Yo-Yo Ma or doing artsy shots on their instruments.  I watched it live on CNN.

Considering the temperatures, playback was a good idea.  Would you really want to bring those expensive instruments out there?  Speaking of which, any story on that Steinway?  Did it hold up physically?  Who would let their instrument out into the cold like that?
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

South American woman, Israelian, Asian and Black man, playing a piece written by a white male American? I guess that was the statement...

Yeah, Perlman made the point that you just don't screw up at an event like a Prez inaug, and in those temperatures they would almost certainly have screwed up!
Instrumentalists are all wannabe singers. Discuss.
