Sauter upright vision 116
on: January 29, 2009, 10:10:48 AM
I am currently considering buying the sauter vision 116 cm piano. Is this make as good as its made out to be? I have not come across this manufacturer in Ireland before. My choice is between a classic schimmel 116cm the sauter 116 vision and an old 1937 bluthner not restored but in good condition and with a reputable dealer. I liked the bluthner but is it too old for a piano teacher/musician? Any advice is welcome.

I've played the Sauter omega (7 footer).  My imperssions on that particular piano was that it has a very concert like sound.  Something that could fill a hall (even though this was only 7 foot).  Grandiose and excellent projection.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

I've never played one, but long to. I envy you. It's probably my dream piano. I've only played a Delta and a couple of uprights and that was enough to sell me on Sauter.

Wyldeman, get the Sauter. Other brands may be as good but none are better, only different.

The store where I played it is actually a Steinway dealer.  It's the place where you would go in my city if you wanted a new Steinway.  I went in one day to visit the sheet music part of their store and saw some Sauter uprights in the front display area.  I inquired if they had any of the grands - was led upstairs to a living room sized room containing only one piano: the Sauter Omega.  I was free to let loose on it.   8)  They wanted to get rid of it for about $64k CAN.

Why 'get rid of a Sauter' ? I own a Sauter Delta and I am very fond of it. Paid 25K Euros and it's worth every penny. Great sound, though it's a little big for my living room.

I'll emphasize again.  They are a Steinway dealer.   ;)

Maybe the Sauter was a little too good.

My musical family just visited the new, what the sales guys called Canads's Bechstein selection centre. Well they had lots of pianos to try and close to our home in Toronto.
