What do you think of this?

Go to the analyses section and look up the C major chopin prelude: it's a short essay.
In my opinion, much of the complexity is explained in down-to-earth terms; i.e. no theoretical farting around. This would be bad if it was sparse in content, but I personally learned a great deal from it.
I think we should all lobby for this fellow to write some more free essays like this.

It's a fine, thoughtful analysis, but like all analyses for me, whether literary, musical or artistic (fine arts), they strike me as being like vivisections. Yes, we understand every nut and bolt of this slight utterance by Chopin, but the miracle of its musical genius lies dead on this theorist's page.
I'd rather play it, frankly, than read about it.
But, thank you for the link. And please ignore my personal prejudice.

I didn't study music in college and unfortunately am unfamiliar with the conventions of music analysis. I would _like_ to be able to talk about music more intelligently--reading someone else's intelligent thoughts is second best! Thanks for the suggestion.

I enjoyed it. I'd love to hear his thoughts about the well tempered clavier or the beethoven sonatas, as examples. It almost looks like he used to have a bunch of stuff on their but then took it down for some reason. anyone have any ideas about that?

It's an nicely displayed analysis and website, although I think the article is a bit long, for my taste.
