Schubert Impromptu Op.90 No.2 - Difficulty
on: February 27, 2009, 02:53:58 PM
how hard would this piece be out of 10 do you think?
i want to start it, it doesnt seem
that
hard, i am looking for a big performance piece that will take a long time to learn, you know something huge.
i dont know if im emphasising the word 'huge' properly.
i want it to be long, 4+ minuets is nice, and something that takes time and effort to achieve perfection. nothing like a liszt etude though.
something managable for a student in his second year of learning.
Latley its just been clementi/burgmuller and other grade 3-4 pieces. which isnt that bad, i mean its good for progress and all that but i want to feel challenged, but not to the point of total frustration if you know what i mean.
perhaps someone can recommend other pieces with that criteria?
not Chopin/Bach/Beethoven though, i have that sorted on when i will play those pieces.

It's a nice piece my Schubert, took me just over a month to learn. The thing with this impromptu is it has to be really precise and accurate, mistakes are clearly heard. But good piece to play.
Dunno what to say for difficulty. I personally would say 7 or 8 out of 10.

This is a wonderful piece. Just dont get sloppy, mistakes will be clearly heard. I would have to say that this piece would be a level 7. Best of luck!
