is this a bad habit?

ok, this applies to every time i make this movement, but I'll give an example. When I'm playing the F Major scale left hand descending, starting on F fingering 3123412, when I press down my third finger on C and position my fourth finger over Bb, my fifth finger raises into the air. This makes it very hard to hit the A with finger 5 smoothly if the fingering were 312345. Should I try to get rid of this?

Very general answer: If a passage calls for a certain anatomically correct fingering and there is no other anatomically correct way to play it, you will have to work on it.
More concrete: You will need to work on independence for fingers 4 and 5. However, even after you have gained complete control over them (give it a few years), you'll find the pinkies still rising, but it won't really matter anymore.
