Zen koans or riddles
on: April 19, 2009, 02:14:28 PM
here's a couple of riddles to get you thinking outside the "square

1. two men are arguing over whether a flag is moving in the wind - or the wind is moving the flag?

2. is water and ice one and the same substance - or are they seperate in their nature?

To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour. - "William Blake"

1. No. The men's tongues are moving.

2. They are the same substance AND separate nature.

Another one:

3. When you meet a Man of the Way on the road, greet him not with words, nor with silence. Tell me, how will you greet him?
I'm sinking like a stone in the sea,
I'm burning like a bridge for your body

I guess I greet him with the bicycle bell...
