New Member!! with a video of me playing.
on: May 05, 2009, 06:08:25 PM
Hello Everyone at Pianostreet!! My name is Julian Toha and I am currently a Junior undergraduate majoring in piano at Florida State University. I look forward to meeting everyone while learning and sharing information. I guess a good way to introduce myself is by showing how I play and what I like to play. So recently I recorded the Barber Piano Concerto with my school orchestra and I have a video online of one of the performances (I didn't post it). Anyways, I am a lover of less common piano repertoire, as well as the greats (Beethoven Op. 57, Schumann Op. 13, and the Barber Sonata).

Here is my blog: https://juliantoha.blogspot.com/

And Here is my video: (This is 1 of 4, you can find the other ones on there as well)

Let me know what you guys and ladies think . . .

Florida State?

Do you study with Dr. James Nalley? If that is so, then you might find it coincidental that I performed in a Masterclass for him back in December!

Hey Julian, Welcome to the site. I hope you have a useful and wonderful time here. The Barber concerto is one of my all time favorites, ever since I first heard the recording of John Browning with Cleveland/Szell. I'm always happy when people play it, or I hear people working on it. Thanks for posting it.  :)

Actually, I don't.  But that was a pretty close connection.  I study with the current chair: Leonard Mastrogiacomo.  What school do you go to?

Julian,

Welcome to Piano Street.  Your rendition of the Barber Concerto is very fine indeed.  Congratulations on that wonderful performance!

Omar Roy:   You mentioned that you were in a masterclass with James Nalley.  You might want to see this. . .

Holy crap! I never would have expected that! That's a real bummer.  He was a fantastic pianist and a great teacher too...
