Fingering Issues on 3rd Mvt Waldstein
on: May 06, 2009, 05:34:42 PM
I have been having some issues in the trill section of the third movement...it is the part when there is a trill in the right hand and while u are playing the trill there is also a melody line playing in the top 4 and 5 fingers...if anyone has played this before and has a tip or trick on how to play this that would b great

Use your first and second fingers (your thumb and index) to trill, and hit the melody notes with your fifth finger (little finger).
It takes a lot of practicing I suppose to accurately hit the melody notes, but it's fairly easy after about an hour of practicing it. I suggest practicing the trill alone without the bass clef notes to start, until you can play it decently.
Also, you don't have to trill while you hit the melody notes. You can stop the trill, hit the note, and move your hand back to the trill. No one will notice. Here's an example of that written out if you care to look at it,
