Hey all,

So today I recorded myself playing Liszt's "Fountains of the Villa d'Este" and set it to some photographs I took when I visited Villa d'Este earlier this summer.

Enjoy!

This piece sounds like the fountains, very light with  colorful and wonderful passages.
Very nice video too.  Thank you for sharing!    :)

You have presented a great combination of good photographs and excellent piano playing. You were able to get good shots without showing the other visitors so that we are not distracted from the visual art. Speaking from experience what you did wasn't easy.

Hi donjuan,

I've always enjoyed your artistic playing of Liszt's music, and likewise for this recording of "Fountains". You bring this pre-impressionistic water music vividly to life for the listener.  All of the pieces in Annees de Pelerinage--Troisieme Annee are actually late works, and I believe that most would consider "Fountains" to be Liszt's finest and most important of that set.  The only one I've played from Third Year is "Sursum corda", although "Aux cypres de la Villa d'Este" Nos. 1 and 2 look interesting too.

Now that you've learned this piece, you're probably tempted to learn Ravel's "Jeux d'eau" to have both in your repertoire, yes?

Your slide show is wonderful.  The Villa d'Este looks like an extraordinarily beautiful place to visit.  It's no wonder that Liszt loved to spend time there.

Great job!
