I am looking to buy a used Baby grand piano and I found a 5' Ivers and Pond from 1964 for $3k. Do you think this is a good piano? My budget is more around $1k but I would be ready to make an effort for a better piano.

Ivers and Pond is known for it's Uprights more than it's grands. Not knowing the condition I couldn't say if it is worth the 3,000. You might be better of looking for a used Yamaha or Kawai Upright, they will hold their value and will require less maintaining.  and   Before purchasing any Piano look have a qualified technician inspect it, as to insure that you do not waste your money.
