Recording on the computer?
on: July 07, 2009, 10:21:37 PM
Hello! I can make really good stereo recordings by connecting my desktop's mic input directly to the digital piano's earphone outputs. The problem is that the built-in recorder saves the files in .wma (Windows Media Audio File) format and publishing on the web often requires mp3 format. Does anyone know how to convert the files (or should I get a special recording program).
I'm not a professional musician and I just want something decent. No pro stuff, it is.

I've used one of the freebie programs, RealPlayer I think, to convert wav files to mp3. Just import the wav file and save it as a different format.
Audacity is a free audio program too. That might do it.

I used the built in sound recorder at first, but it is really limiting.
I moved to Rosoft and Anvil, both freeware, but now I've settled on Audacity for all my recording. It's free, intuitive, and full of features. I'm reasonably sure you can save to any format you want.
