LRCM

Has anyone heard of this new RCM exam? the syllabus was released just a couple of days ago and is available on the rcm website for free https://www.rcmexaminations.org/acadinfo/online_syllabi/Licentiate_Syllabus.pdf
it is a piano performance exam meant to be taken after ARCT, in fact they reccomend that you spend at least 2 years preparing for it after taking your ARCT exam. The repertoire is also alot more interesting.

I myself will be taking it maybe next year, will probably go back to canada sometime and my canada teacher is very eager to have me take this exam as well and she will help me with prep when i go back& the next time I see her. She has asked me to pick a couple of pieces to learn already from the syllabus. When I told her about it, she said: go for it!

does anyone else intend to take this exam?
J.S Bach Italian Concerto,Beethoven Sonata op.2 no.2,Mozart Sonatas K.330&333,Chopin Scherzo no.2,Etude op.10 no.12&Fantasie Impromptu

I find this quite interesting, especially the fact that a degree could count as an exemption for the ARCT.

My only hesitation in deciding to take the ARCT at this time is the theory requirements.  At this point in my studies doing an ARCT would be like backtracking a lot of the material I had to do for my undergrad.  I would rather move on to do a Masters degree.

I see they have both a more flexible yet more constrained repertoire selection.  The romantic section seems rather small.  However, I like the direction they are going with their contemporary suggestions.

Some of the rep is a bit crazy however.  Stockhausen Klavierstucke, Xenakis Evryali, etc.  Quite adventurous from the ARCT suggestions.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Holy crap.  I was starting to get annoyed with the idea that the ARCT was the pinnacle of the RCM while in the states they had stuff like LRSM and FRSM.

I've spent the better part of the last 2 hours sifting through the list of pieces.  Nice to know that I've breached the list with my Pour le Piano and 2 of the Rach Etudes :)

This is something I'm definitely going to consider in the next while; I did well on my ARCT but this is a whole new level.  I loved working on pieces for exam prep, so I'm pretty damn excited that there is still another one waiting for me lol.
