The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

Progression after Nocturne No. 20 Op. Posth
on: July 13, 2009, 02:27:15 PM
Okay so i'm just about finished with Nocturne in C sharp minor by Chopin and I was wondering what a good choice of piece would be after this (again a Chopin). One that will challenge me more than the Nocturne but not so hard that I can't play it obviously. I was thinking maybe a Scherzo? Can anyone help me out?

A few months after this nocturne, my teacher and I worked on the op. 67 mazurkas (well, only nos. 2, 3 and 4). They are not too difficult and they use some of the same techniques you explored in the nocturne - rubato, odd against even rhythms (i.e. 3 against 2), lyrical right hand against the left and so on but at a faster tempo.
