Other modern orchaestra composers

Well is anyone here a fan of works by John Williams, who composed the famous, or infamous, Star Wars soundtracks, or how about Nobou Uematsu for the Final Fantasy series..

I sound like I'm repeating myself people.  ::)

Most certainly yes. Also John Barry, although Barry melodies are instantly recognisable, whereas Williams has developed far more.

Williams has probably more than any other in recent years attuned the ear of those who would probably have never tuned in to "classical" music stations - to listen to orchestral music.

I consider Barry's finest work to be the Out of Africa theme.

Williams' I consider to be the beautiful Schindler's List theme. Also the finale of Close Encounters when Williams makes a parody on "When You Wish Upon A Star" - simply superb!

i love michael nyman, especially his music for 'the piano' and 'gattaca', beautiful stuff.
