Do I need lessons...?
on: October 05, 2009, 12:33:38 PM
I play by ear.., improvise,  I compose in traditional four part.. Ive had theory.. but never any Piano lessons..

Ive learned from books..  looking at manuscripts...  Listening to Glen Gould...

Im at level 1 for several reasons... and for several reasons Im ahead of level one..    Ive learned one Bach piece..  the 1# invention...  Looking at the 2# invention...

Im Serious about  scales, arpeggios.. Hanon...    I can play most of the scales .. Still need arpeggio work on most scales.. and I have used about 15 Hanon exercises..  So that is not going to be a problem.. except time and practice...

Ive had theory.. Ive written compositions...   However...   " READING MUSIC" at any speed level..,  not just understanding it.. is a  "BIG PROBLEM"...         my eyes have a hard time of it...     They dont track well....

I am very interested in going by the levels... Level one, level two and so on... ...,   My goal is to hit level 8....

I really dont want a piano teacher right now...   I have a whole lot of scale work to do.. and dont feel a need a teacher for that.. Just practice..

My question:

I will need help understanding how to begin the reading process , the choice and amount of compositions...    As I said.. I can study a piece of music.. and write music..   However, I have no training in the traditional piano study compositional aspect...    and Im not great at studying manuscripts.. I struggle...

I can compose in 4 parts... However.. Im just not developed at reading at an instrument.... and " IM NOT SURE WHERE TO START"..

At level one..       How many comps should I practice ...  3, 9, 45..    Im not sure....  It seems I need consulting from a Piano teacher...    However, right now.. Economics is playing a bigger role.. so.. .

What about online piano lessons.. or teachers...

OR maybe someone here can help....

Just some advice and direction for a new beginning explorer....

Thanks...

Is everyone to important over here to answer an honest question.....

I have been honest here... Is this not good enough....

Is the truth not good enough..

I will not be coming back to this site to ever post again.. This is a F*#king Joke...

This is a sad state of affairs.. This is why so many people will have nothing to do with classical music..

Capricious trite fluff...

Disrespectful nonsense.....

Possibly because, as that response shows, you have an exaggerated sense of your own importance in the eyes of other forum users, who also have a life.

But just in case you do come back to look - yes, you need a teacher.
Instrumentalists are all wannabe singers. Discuss.

I have read this post yesterday and I think omnicell rambled on , like he goes on and on what he can and cannot do.     ???

So, like I say many times before to new members that
*don't know what to do about playing the piano or not*

I say  GET A TEACHER!!  How hard  is that???   ::)

And this is no joke.
Yesterday was the day that passed,
Today is the day I live and love,Tomorrow is day of hope and promises...
