Even fingers
on: October 16, 2009, 05:35:59 PM
Hi guys! This my first post on these forums  :)

A bit of background info- played piano when I was a kid for a few years but was forced to give it up due to financial problems, took it up again two years ago and love it! :) My question relates to playing an ascending or descending chordal sequence. I find no matter how much I try to play the notes simultaneously, it just won't happen, my fingers just can't play the notes at the same time without me really forcing down strongly on the piano. Some Mozart stuff I'm trying to learn at the moment sounds really sloppy because I just can't play two notes in the same hand together at the same time, usually the fingers 4/2 and 3/5 are the worst. Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks!

p.s. I plan to change my teacher next year as they are not very good and doesn't really help me with technical stuff like this at all :(

The finger issues youre stating are there because these fingers are used alot less than the other fingers, with playing piano and dayly uses.
You can train these fingers by pieces where these fingers get used alot more (like Bach), and by playing etudes wich are focussed on these fingers. You can even train them without a piano, like playing triplets with these fingers on a flat surface or like clicking the right mousebutton with your 4th or 5th finger (or whatever)

good luck,
