Where is the line between improvisation and composition? It sometimes seems like the goal of improvisation is to appear compositional, and the goal of composition is to sound improvisational. Whatever the case, your soothing music seems an improvisational composition, and you very easily could compose it as it is. A nod to the title, and to the genre...you seem a compassionate fellow. I'm a bit out of my depth in this genre of music, having not explored or experimented with it myself. By way of observation, there is a lack of tension in comparison to the much more tense and troubled waters of my usually cravings and wanderings. But it is very relaxing, and I wonder if you are involved in or have ever considered musical therapy? You seem to have the right heart and talent to soothe many woes. Thanks for sharing.
Hey, happy 100th post! I don't know where to start either, though I have two friends who at one time had an interest in musical therapy but ended up pursuing different paths. I've heard that children with autism respond well to musical therapy, but it's not a field I've studied. I'm thinking you wouldn't need to be a therapist for your music to be useful in music therapy...say if you came upon a therapist who could use your music. I'm a bit out of my league here, but see that you do have a particular talent which could be put to a greater service then merely the enjoyment of friends.
Thanks, 100 posts is a milestone!
That piece sounds very relaxed, i think at the beginning it sounds a bit like "Last Christmas", i like this motive!
Very pleasant and melodic piece! I was thinking to myself today it might be nice to try to develop playing in this modern new age style. I like to listen to George Winston's "Autumn" album sometimes.
As always, your improv has such a beautiful melody, and you do play the piano with such a sensitivity that brings each note with feeling....you are quite gifted! best wishes, go12_3
