Composer & piece request (title, no sheet music)
on: December 07, 2009, 12:54:51 PM
Hi everyone,

Two weeks ago i went to a concert of Alba Ventura at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam with a friend, Alba played an encore that my friend really enjoyed. He is just getting to know classical music and he was very enthuasiastic about that encore so i'm trying to help him with it. I found a part of the piece on youtube but i am unfamiliar with it:

Perhaps one of you is familiar with the piece and can help me with the title. Seeing Alba's background and the sound of the music it is probably a spanish/latin composer.

Many thanks in advance,
Hans

Urgh, that's sooooooo familiar.  I think it's by Infante?  Will look into it more later.
If this work is so threatening, it is not because it's simply strange, but competent, rigorously argued and carrying conviction.

You are correct in that it's the Spanish composer Albéniz. The piece is Op.232, No.1, Cantos de España, Leyenda (Asturias) in G minor.

It's in the PS library, so you can find it there.
