I want to learn some math
on: December 11, 2009, 07:21:58 PM
I've always hated math in K-12 school, it didn't make any sense and I had a terrible teacher that didn't know how to explain or how to make the matter interesting.

So I remained math illiterate (to an extent) and adamant that math suckes and was useless.
Lately I realized that without the retarded school context, math and its logic is actually beautiful and I want to learn what I didn't learn in the past.

I don't want to become a mathematician or follow uni class or dwell into complex advanced math theory. I'd just to have a good grasps of the essentials like fractions, expressions, models, algebra and have a certain cunting and calcolous speed.

Do you know any good software or website were I can self-teach myself math?

Try the Teaching Company (or check your library to see what Teaching Company DVDs/CDs they have). They have some really great recreational math courses (w/ real world applications). Also, try the website for Wolfram Math. They have alot of interesting info there.
