Used yamaha s4
on: December 17, 2009, 01:58:35 AM
Hi,
I am considering buying a used Yamaha S-40, 3 years old, for 40K. I don't know much about pianos, but I am told by two local technicians that this is a wonderful piano in great condition. I am buying it for my wife, who plays, as a surprise 20th anniversary gift. Do you think this is a reasonable price? It sounds like I should check the serial number to make sure that it's not a grey market item. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks

Can't really say much on the price, but S series are wonderful pianos. That would be one heck of a surprise gift! Make sure your wife likes playing Yamahas though, as some people prefer the sound of certain brands over others. Since its used, get it checked out by a technician first - the fee you pay is worth it.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Pretty unlikely, and it wouldn't really matter anyway since you probably aren't going to get it serviced by Yamaha - I doubt it's under guarantee and big piano firms usually charge over the odds for servicing.
