Help Please; Chords
on: January 19, 2010, 02:26:47 AM
CG/BD

How do you play those?
I'm a total beginner; as much of a beginner as you can get.
I was told to play a song in my youth group by my teacher,
and well, the song included things that were like..

CG/BD

GC D

Basically what i'm trying to ask is this:

What's two chords put together mean?
and how do you go about playing that?
GC on the left and D on the right?
Help please.
Greatly appreciated.

I haven't seen anything written out like that before.

I have seen this...
G/B
...which is a G Major chord with B as the lowest note.  That's a first inversion chord, written that way instead of G6/4.

And they do stack two chords (or write it that way) so it's easier to understand in pop music.
D/C  is a D Major chord with C as the bass note.

I think I'm writing those right.  Sometimes I get the slashes backwards or which side is supposed to be the top chord vs. bottom note.  I've heard that style of notation called "slash notation."

Maybe that's someone's personal notation formula/style.

Are you the same guy that posted the other thing?  You just have to put spaces in between the chords.  It's meant to be C, G/B (G chord with B in the bass), D
or G C D
It's a succession of chords.

Bob - a first inversion is a 63 chord not a 64.  Also, if you have D/C it is not stacking chords, because it doesn't involve a C chord, it only involves the pitch.
