that was really quite original and i must say i really liked it. in effect, you turned it into a mazurka, so to speak. your rubati on the second beat was what gave it that flavor. a true polish chopin waltz!
GET A *** METRONOME!!!
It's supposed to be in 3/4 time signature - not ?!?/4....
There's rubato and then there's taking the piss... this seems to be an example of the latter.
^Ah, cool things like this. I have great respect for Birba and for Perfect_pitch, their thoughts on music...and what emphatically different reactions! I must say, reading the comments before hearing the performance, I didn't know what to expect out of this performance.
What I got was a most unique rendition full of musical instinct and a wonderful spontaneity cleverly bringing out detailed contrasts. I understand why perfect_pitch is provoked, thought I'd not think the performance provocative...he's got a big second beat in which he's fairly consistent, and he "knows" what he's doing to the time signature...how could one of such music sensibility *not* know? It's clearly a stylistic choice, and for my part I think it came of quite convincingly, even if it was a bit exaggerated (if you're gonna go, go all out...isn't that an Americanized Aussie expression?). And it is not so far from performance practice, like Birba said, "you turned it into a mazurka, so to speak."
I side with Birba on this one...so with vviola weighing in, that makes it two and two. Very good, yeah, very good.
