What does "Child Boards" mean?
on: February 12, 2010, 03:30:45 PM
I'm new here and still getting acclimated.

I had originally guessed that "Child Boards" referred to material suitable in content and tone for children.  I didn't pay much attention to them at first for that reason.

Now, having looked at them, I've concluded that they are merely sub-forums (i.e., of "parent" forums) and that the terminology doesn't imply anything at all about age-appropriateness.

Is my understanding correct?  It's such an unusual usage that I wonder if other newer members or casual visitors have been confused as well (and if, as a result, the sub-forums get less traffic than they otherwise would).
What passes you ain't for you.

I was confused when I first joined but slowly realised that was not the case.
Funny? How? How am I funny?
