Haydn Sonata E-major
on: February 18, 2010, 01:18:15 PM
This is me, playing a Haydn sonata.
My record...-thing is a rather cheap one, and fast passages doesn't sound very good (Hopefully it's the machine, or I'll be rather upset with my playing), but hopefully you can say something useful anyway

I play the second movement much slower, but you pulled it off very well. To me, the best of the three movements. You have a real sense of style. The last movement is very weak. Not one of Haydn's best. So you really have to lighten up the left hand when it's only accompaniment and make the most of "statement - reply". Practise it slower, exaggerating the colors you want to give to each individual phrase.

You play very evenly and have good stamina. Nice job.

I am used to play like Liszt and Chopin, so Haydn is pretty tricky for me.. Espceially the third movement where A -> A# is the most that happens. I had a great lesson on that yesterday, and it's much better now, so thx for the advice
The second movement is also quite strange. It's a second movement, so it should be played slow.. but at the same time, he accually wrote Allegretto, so not that slow.
