Check out this gem I found...
on: February 22, 2010, 09:02:32 PM
I live in Paris, France right now and a couple months ago, bored, I stumbled into a random library and foud this:
A book about Chopin, written by Franz Liszt! I know they were acquaintances, I'm not sure exactly how close they were as friends. I know one envied the other, but I'm not sure which.
My broken French hasn't been able to read much but here is the back cover:
And a random page on the inside:
As my French progresses, I will definitely read this book.
I just wanted to share this amazing find with you guys. I couldn't find it on amazon or anywhere else on the net...only in Paris
(where all of this book takes place as well

There are millions of them for sale on Abe Books.
Looks like it has gone through a few releases.
Never read this one myself.

Is there an English translation. I found The Life of Chopin by Liszt on Amazon but I'm not sure if that's the one. The three Amazon reviewers didn't like it much.

There do seem to be two Bob. Chopin & Life of Chopin. The latter appears to be half the size of the former.

Liszt's
Life of Chopin
is in the public domain. Here's one source:
Life of Chopin at Google Books
It's not very well regarded by scholars, and, though nominally attributed to Liszt, is thought to have been penned largely by his romantic interest, Princess Carolyne zu Sayn-Wittgenstein.

I was thinking there might be a reason I hadn't heard much about it before.

I've had it in my library for years. Certainly not a masterpiece, but fascinating reading, nonetheless.

If it's in the public domain I might give it a read.
