I Need a Leg
on: March 02, 2010, 02:38:13 AM
My wife has a white Kincaid Consol with a broken leg.  I can't find a replacement (without buying a new piano) anywhere and to have one custom made is prohibitively expensive.  Can anyone help me?...is there a "junk yard" of pianos where I may be able to find one?

Fortunately, console legs are pretty much for show and usually don't have any support function other than looking pretty.
You can do a google for piano legs and find them in the white and finish it yourself. Where are you located?

Agreed, although I have witnessed console uprights that will not stand without the front legs. I am a restorer and have lots of legs, but depending upon where you are located; by the time these were shipped to you the cost may exceed the value.

I am in Vancouver, Canada if that is of any help. Can you post a picture of the broken leg? I am wondering what would be wrong with a metal pin, glue and clamps, re-attaching the broken parts together. For me this would seem to be the shortest route to success....

If you think it's is expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur.

This place is in the Pacific Northwest. See if they have what you need.
