Personally I think it is a waste of money. If it was a full size keyboard then I might be more interested, if you could also have some pedal function then I would be even more interested. I like the idea of rolling up a keyboard though.

Goodness gracious, what will they think of next, a fold-up Eigenharp?

Haven't bought one, but I have tried one out before and found it terrible. The feel of the "keys" was totally wrong and I found it actually difficult to play.

See "roll-up piano?" topic under instruments section.

It's hard to find a little keyboard with full size keys.

I was looking for a small keyboard that produced its own tone.  I gave up though.

attractive sound actually - would have been a good idea for beginners etc. but COMPLETELY and TOTALLY unreliable.  Only one note in five actually plays  and that comes out too late usually

My uncle bought one.  It's really hard to play because the touch is so different.  And, like mr j silverman said, completely and totally unreliable, plus the volume just cannot be controlled.

Volume as in keystrike velocity or there's no volume knob?

I was thinking it might be good for some kind of mental practice.  (No joking there.)

It first was intended to be a travel toy only sold in Cracker Barrels and K-Marts. How'd it get so far?

It's the same idea as the one that comes up on your computer screen to input notes on a staff or into a recording program. My seat was next to a  guy who brought one up to input some bass notes into a mix. The roll out one is like an external mouse, etc.

I can't imagine anyone thinking it was for actual playing.

Honestly though, a two octave USB controller like korg nanokey (or, better, AKAI LPK25) would be more convenient than this for bass notes - at least no hard surface is needed. And quality of roll up (piano or computer) keyboards is doubtful: once I gave one a try in a shop, and despite it being brand new, a whole row of keys wasn't working.

Since I have midi in/out from my key board I would use it. When I use one of those score writing programs, inputting the notes from a keyboard is a lot easier than clicking on the spot on the staff.
