Beware of taking sides on this one - Brahms had plenty of respect for Wagner and was reported to shed a tear at the latter's funeral. Wagner was critical of Brahms but that may well have been more to do with his hatred of one or two Brahms supporters who had rubbished his (Wagner's) music in print. As so often, it's the disciples who make the rumpus.
Instrumentalists are all wannabe singers. Discuss.

Yes, it was indeed the "fans" so-to-speak.  But there was certainly an undeniable rivalry between the two groups.  Bruckner's musical career was condemned by critics, a prominent one being Eduard Hanslick, who were on Brahms' side, and he was deeply depressed by their reception of his music, so much so that he was driven to the edge of insanity.

They were all very talented! But i chose Brahms!Please don't underrate anyone!They all made great music
