Cogluotobusisletmesi
on: April 04, 2010, 06:53:04 AM
I have one question:
I just came across the piece on youtube (I've seen threads in the past about difficult pieces)... what's the tuning on the piano for this? Is there some special preparation required? There are harmonic intervals that sound TOO 'in between' regular ones that I thought that certain strings had to be tuned differently.
Anyways, here's a link.
&feature=related
One example is around 7:20 and for the next 20 seconds... it just sounds slightly off.
really nice piece though!

Yeah, this piece calls for a few of the notes in the piano to be tuned down a quarter tone (I forget which ones, it's been a while since I've looked at the score), which explains that. I've never been a big fan of this one, as far as the "most difficult piano pieces ever according to skepto" go. I find it a bit aimless. Perhaps it would do better in it's version for 2 pianos (there are many parts in the score with "optional" notes that are for a second pianist. I don't think this other version has been recorded though.
