Problems..
on: April 13, 2010, 06:53:47 PM
Hello!  :)

I started playing keyboards when I was 6 years old..and about 3 years ago I started to learn piano. In reality my level right now is "basic 4" but I will try to enter in a university (in octuber) and I need a repertoire (it is like a test)
Right now I can play Pathetique mov 2, clair de lune, and others.. but I can't find any music to play in my repertoire because i must play one "fugue" (from bach), one mov from a sonate (haydn, mozart or beethoven) and finaly an optional moviment.

My teacher is teaching me ravel for the left hand (in D) to play in my repertoire but I do not know if i can play it in time (too many pages) and i need help to search for more Advanced or intermediate pieces.I was thinking to play  Rachmaninoff Prelude Op.23 No.5.
      Do you have any suggestion?
Thanks and sorry about my english

maybe the c minor prelude and fugue, from Wtk 1? It's not that difficult, and that's the most ppl start with. And well, you've got the sonata, just do the 1st and 3rd mov from pathetique. Though, no offence, I'm quite concerned about your current repertoire. 2nd mov from pathetique and Clair de lune isn't relly university repertoire. What else do you play?

Check out WF Bach's 8 little fugues.  They probably have them at IMSLP.

yes, I know it isn't a university repertoire that's why i am afraid ...
It's the first time i am trying to enter and my teacher said that's it's okey to play the second moviment (pathetique) but clair I am not going to play
I can play moonlight sonata mov3 ,schumann (piano sonata No.2 in G minor), rachmaninoff...and about the "c minor prelude and fugue from Wtk 1" i can play too. :)
Thanks a lot for the help and suggestions

You know, you don't Have to go immediately to university. The more you know when you start, the more you'll when you finish.
