harmonic minor scales

I notice that recommended fingering for the right hand in some of the harmonic minor scales [ e.g F# and C# ] is inconsistent ; i.e you begin on 2,3 and this becomes 3,4 later . Would it be better to start with 3,4 ?

It's less of a stretch for the hand to use 2,3.  Crossing under 3 vs. crossing under 4.

The ends of scales can be "rounded off" that way with fingerings that are easier instead of sticking with that pattern.  Otherwise you might end up crossing the thumb over when the pinkie can play it just to follow the pattern.

It's just a little more efficient for f# and c#.  Not that big of a deal though.

It's just like if you start a c major scale from b. It's waaay easier to start on 2nd than 4th... So it's only to make your job easier ;)
