Three Sonic Excursions
on: May 04, 2010, 08:36:46 PM
In these pieces I was seeking to explore some of the more interesting textures one could achieve on the organ.

1) Is a bit like taking a walk through a forest and overturning leaves and other plant life to find the surprises underneath

2) Is like being inside a waterfall or other large entity where one is emerged in the objects vibrating energy.  This uses a lot of low bass tones, quite a few below 20hz.  Listen using a good subwoofer.

3) Is like the fog and mist on a river banks edge with the rhythm of nature moving within the translucent light.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

You are uniquely talented. You breath compositions. These are amazing. I love the organ. I love everything you get out of the organ. Your skill is mind blowing.

Hi quantum,

I listened to all three.  This music is amazing!  I don't have a favorite, as I liked all of them.  You obtain a repertoire of limitless sounds from the organ.  The style is modern, but fully accessible.  You have a very fertile mind indeed!  Have you ever considered doing some film music?
Interpreting music means exploring the promise of the potential of possibilities.

Thanks Rachfan.

I seem to draw a lot of inspiration for the imagery in my music from film music.  It has crossed my mind to try writing some.  However, this is something I have never done in any official capacity.  I'm wondering how to stick my foot in.

Wow your ornamentation in 1) made me think about turning leaves over and thinking, oh look! little bug, or what have you. Seemingly random note runs make me think about bugs moving around with all their legs, spiders making and treading their webs etc. It felt like I was walking through a dark forest and all sorts of little creatures and plant life where watching. The piece had very curious sound to it, like we where investigating something.

The deep notes makes me feel like I am walking on the bottom completely submerged, quick runs are kept quiet and low make me think about bubbles and creatures and plants under the water this time, also water swirling around and pouring into the river. Again this improv takes me on a walk through the environment very effectively and I can imagine my journey through the watery depths and can even look above me and see the waterfall pour down creating bubbles all around me.

You seem to be able to start in the right register to create the correct atmosphere again in this 3rd recording it instantly makes us think about misty fog, to me it is quite light and starts to get thicker. There is sort of this scared tense feeling but at the same time the lightness and remembering oh its only fog, but what might lurk in the hidden fog might be frightening, but we are always reminded how velvety the pretty ghostly the fog is.

A wonderful collection to wake up to with this morning, thanks!
