Chopin Ballade 2 [VIDEO]
on: May 24, 2010, 12:39:38 AM
This is my performance of Chopin's second ballade in a master class taught by Dr. Paul Barnes. The acoustics of the hall and sound of the piano may not be the best, but the visual quality is great! I love this piece, but the last two pages are very, very difficult. Feedback is welcomed if you'd like to leave some.

Now that I think about it, the first two pages are super difficult, too.

Wonderful work!  I like your conception of the piece.  I, personally, would play the opening theme in a more chorale style - not just emphasizing the melody.  The coda was really great - just as difficult as the f minor coda, in my opinion.  Begin it mf.  That way you have room to make those incisive crescendos.  Very impressive playing.

Hi orange,

This is very secure, fluid, lyrical, exciting and convincing rendition of the Ballade.  Bravo!

I like it much more than Zimerman's. More feeling for the music.

That's quite a bolt statement there, but thanks nonetheless! :)
