Tendinitis

Sooo I got tendinitis in my wrist but I love playing piano so I was wondering if anyone knew any small things I could possibly do to relieve the tension in my wrist and maybe get me practicing like I used to? Thanks =) Besides wearing a brace I don't know what I can do.

In my experience with work related (repetitive motion tasks) injuries, the best thing you can do for this is to find a good stretch regimen (really all players should stretch). I would search the web for hand stretches that you can do. Make sure you don't over do it either. Stretching shouldn't hurt. Generally hold a stretch for 20 seconds and repeat each stretch 3 times. Of course consult a doctor before starting any exercise or stretch program. Also, do some research on how to hold your hands when playing. If you are holding them at an awkward angle it can cause a lot of tension on your tendons causing them to flare up. I myself have wrist/forearm issues when playing too much. The key is to continue stretching even when you hands/arms are feeling better. I hope this helps.

 Tendinitis is almost always a result of technical errors: bad hands position, tension playing, etc. So, try to see how you are playing.
But now, first of all, you must cure your tendinitis. I suggest a NSAID (diclofenac or Ibuprofeno, 50 or 75 mg, 2 times/day (always after some food) and rest until you feel better.

thank you =) I was onn alieve for a bit but i wasn't sure how long to keep that going so i eventually stopped. It's starting to feel better but I'll definatly look up some of those hand stretches and rest it up a bit =)
