Albeniz Iberia - El Albaicin
on: June 11, 2010, 03:04:53 AM
Upon a request from my goodly Professor, we have begun the Iberian Suite. Starting with the "easy" El Abaicin we will then do Trianna. I would place Beethoven's Hammerklavier somewhere between the two in the "difficulty" stakes.

Early days and many improvements need to be tended to, but as an "opener" I am pleased with the outcome so here is my presentation:

Currently rehearsing:

Chopin Ballades (all)
Rachmaninov prelude in Bb Op 23 No 2
Mozart A minor sonata K310
Prokofiev 2nd sonata
Bach WTCII no 6
Busoni tr Bach toccata in D minor

Ignorance is truly bliss.  And I don't mean that sarcastically.  I wish I had the courage to present some of my things on pianostreet.  But I'm so embarassed.  I think I'm at one extreme and you're at another.  And I could probably be your grandfather!  I know you said you don't read the comments, but I was just wondering if you really are convinced in what you present.  It's like you live in a world where only "slow-concert-pianist" exists.  I don't know whether you lack the technique, or the hard work to polish up a piece.  Sometimes it sounds like you're sight-reading.  And you present such difficult pieces at an incredibly fast rate.  I'm wondering what your teacher thinks.
At any rate, I would never berate you with such viciousness as I have read.  It really takes only a little self-restraint to resist the temptation to click on "slow-concert-pianist" when he appears in the audition room.
