Hunagrian Music
on: June 14, 2010, 11:42:47 AM
Can anyone recommend any Hungarian or Hungarian sounding piano music. You know, that typical gypsy sound. I'm grade 8 standard just so you have some idea what I'm capable of.

Thanks

P.S. Not Liszt Hungarian Rhapsodies or Brahms Hungarian Dances, they're far too technically challenging for my current abilities.

There are a few stunning piano transcriptions of Saraste that are worth having a look at. Should be on IMSLP.

If you were grade 8,000,001, I would suggest Tausig.

He wasn't, but the original poster asked for Hungarian music, not Hungarian composers.
