I have not and do not wish to sign up to any social networking facility.

Jonathan Powell has already joined Facebook, so you should do so as well. ;) Cum an joint. 8)

Anyway, this might be of interest to some people:

Jonathan Powell has already joined Facebook, so you should do so as well.
Why? My immense respect and admiration for Jonathan Powell does not and need not encourage me to join Facebook if - as is the case (as I've already made clear) - I simply have no desire to do so and cannot see the point of doing so. Why would Mr Powell's membership of Facebook mean that I "should" join it myself? Just curious! In my curiosity, however, I cannot say that I take especially kindly to being told (particulary by someone whom I do not even know personall), that I should or should not do something or other, frankly - for what that may or may not be worth...

Should it be assumed that you are on Facebook yourself, then?

Best,

Alistair

If this work is so threatening, it is not because it's simply strange, but competent, rigorously argued and carrying conviction.

You forgot the word "to" in that sentence as well.

You can all piss off.

There seems to be a contradiction in attitude there...

I have invented a new version of Facebook. I am calling it Hatebook.

You invite people you don't like to be your enemy and then you hurl insults at each other.

Could be onto a winner here.

Not unless people respond to your invitation.

Yes, but I find it pointless. Why would people want to know what you are doing. I have a lot of friends, and I don't know or don't speek to half of them.

I have a lot of friends, but I never speak to any of them.

At least on Facebook you can be unavailable.
