Well I don't know.... I'm not old enough I guess...  :-\ And I know some of my friends have facebook anyway.... and they tell me I should get it but... I don't know.... maybe I'll get it soon... But I think you have to lie about your age then... don't you have to be 18 or something? I'm not sure  :-\

I find it fun for the odd minute or two a day, and it can be a handy way of catching up with friends who have changed phone numbers or something so one has lost touch. On the other hand, in one way it's just another confusion - emails, texts, phone messages and now Facebook messages to keep track of when I'm trying to organise my diary!

I think most people do loose touch, but I suppose it's how people keep in touch via the Internet...the
exclusion of the face to face contact or a phone call which is hardly the mode of communication; it's either the facebook, emails and forms.

Yep, but I've only had it for about 2 years~

I helped my friend get one, but then her parents found out and made her delete it TT TT xD Luckily they still don't know that I was the one that basically got it for her.. otherwise they prob. wouldn't like me that much~

No, I don't have an account either. However you all should know that the financial services industry uses it for background checks along with all the other sightings of you on the Internet.

Personally I only visit this forum. Otherwise I see everybody else face to face on a sort of small village type of contact. Yes people drop out of circulation, never to be heard from again. The closest people I see over meals or visiting events together.

Yes, social interaction has changed and social networking sites seem like a quick and easy way out. But.. you need to get out more and soak up the life on the streets. Sharing is daring! Sit down next to somebody in a public place and strike up a conversation. And stop checking your PDA/phone device!

Facebook is daft.  Worse than that, it's a superficial, skittering-on-the-surface, self-promotional tool posing as "social interaction."  I did it for four months on the urging of old college classmates who said that's how they communicate these days.  But they weren't "communicating," they were engaged in telling me (and their "friends") what cookies they baked today, what they planned to watch on television, ad nauseam.  Advertisements for themselves.  Pure and simple.  A personal diary kept for public consumption.  Tacky.

When I went into a coma from boredom and announced my Facebook departure, they acted as if I were moving to some isolated iceberg off Antarctica.  I said, "well, for godsaakes, just email, text or phone me."  Two did.  For one week.  The rest is (blessed) silence.

Facebook is a stupid distraction in a world where people regard attention deficit disorder as a normal state.  Boredom reigns out there.  My advice is to walk away from Facebook and get to the piano and practice.
