I'm asking this out of pure curiosity: Does anyone know whether the editions of Sorabji's scores available from the Sorabji Archive could be considered to be Urtext ones, or if they are slightly altered by the editor(s) who worked on them? Thanks.
As far as possible - that's to say as far as Sorabji's occasionally compromisd legibility can allow - the editions that we supply endeavour to follow Sorabji's written intentions to the letter, although in cases where what Sorabji has written leaves room for ambiguity or is otherwise uncertain, editors have had to make their own editorial decisions (and Sorabji was not the only composer to make mistakes in his scores!); this is largely the same for editions of other composers' work. Some of the Sorabji editions include critical commentary on the editorial decision making; others (the majority, to date), do not.I hope that this helps.Best,Alistair
Indeed it did, thank you very much!As an aside, do you have any news about the progress of Fredrik Ullén's recording of the 100 TE? From what I heard, the first 62 of them had already been recorded over 2 years ago, so I have to wonder how much progress has been done so far and why BIS hasn't released the third volume yet.
