Do track shoes improve your races?
on: July 21, 2004, 05:02:03 AM
Is there a difference if u wear track spikes and use a starting block at a track and field race than using regular shoes and no starting block?

I have no specific idea as I'm not a runner or work with people who run but I'll give you my opinion anyway:
Yes, they do improve your running.
1 Spikes will drive into the track providing more grip and no slip like running shoes.
2 the sole is designed to give you the maximum _____ you can get
3 the sole will prevent you from using your heels to run (you run faster on the balls of your feet than you do the heel-toe method).
Starting block
the block is there so that you can apply force onto it allowing you to propel forward. It is angled forward. Without it, you have nothing to push against except the track.
