I think he's a comedian and this is meant to be a sort of parody.
He shows that he actually can play beautifully, in the beginning.

Don't worry - it's a Kawai... the world won't miss it    ;D

That was truly rubbish though. And yet sadly enough - most people who do this seriously for music call it 20th century art...

On an unrelated note... did anyone think that he resembled a young Glenn Gould in the video??? Especially with the facial features?

Lol, I can do that easy but poor piano, I am sure tuning technicians are getting very angry watching this.

This is not a real concert btw, it certainly looks like the audience was edited in at the end. And his expression and where he puts his quivering hand up near his mouth at the end lol, very amusing.

Are you sure??? I looked him up and found he's some sort of extremist comedian (Danish I think)...

I personally think he's talentless (musically and comedically).

It is a dutch comedian indeed, but a comedian with often a mental twist. He is quite musical, but this is of course just one of his many absurdistic sketches.

I guess it would start hurting your hands playing like that wouldnt it??

The music was different from the norm but it was definitely not unmusical as some have degraded it to be.  I enjoyed it.

Would a person actually even need to know how to play the piano at all in order to do that?  ::)

I think you'd need a pretty good control of rhythm at least.  ;D

He seemed to do fairly well for the first 10 seconds... then he just shat all over the piano.

I cant believe so much has been said about this "comic", and so little about so much good stuff in the audition room.

First of all... I don't find this comical in any way - I just think it's rubbish, total rubbish.

The other reason is - it's easy to help a piano player who needs advice and lots of help to improve - it's hard helping a piano player who is dedicated and needs detailed, specific advice on that piece.

If someone were to ask me about advice on playing the Hammerklavier sonata - I wouldn't be able to help them since I've never played it before (I want to after the exam).
