Professors at RCM
on: August 28, 2010, 07:40:50 PM
I am going to have private tuition with one of the professors at RCM. I still have a lot of technique to learn, and I have not mastered enough repertoire I think for me to go to a professor who only takes on the advanced students and leaves technique aside. I was thinking of Nigel Clayton, Andrew Zolinsky, Edna Stern. And then eventually on to Andrew Ball, Julian Jacobson or Gordon Fergus Thompson. If anyone can tell me give me some information on these teachers that would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Andrew Zolinsky may well be a good choice for you, if he's willing to take you. I know him slightly (we both work at Goldsmiths College in London) and I have seen several of his pupils develop considerably under his care, which is what matters.
Instrumentalists are all wannabe singers. Discuss.

I've had lessons with Professor Julian Jacobson - he is very versatile (from Balakirev/Prokofiev/Liszt) and has performed all the Beethoven sonatas in a day! and also he is proficient in Jazz.
