Teaching myself with only the right hand ...
on: September 06, 2010, 01:59:20 PM
I lost the use of my left hand in an accident. I used to play guitars by ear and wanting not to give up music I figured I'd give the piano a try. Even teaching myself how to read. I've been using some on-line courses with good results. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanx, jimbo

Jimbo, you would be better off putting your post in the teaching board. This part of the forum might not be frequented by members that could help you.

Sorry to hear of your accident, it must be horrible having to give up the guitar. I cannot imagine losing my left hand and having to give up banjo.

Thanx Thal,

Ooo banjo, cool. Steve Martin lives near me and plays banjo with a band. He sounds awesome.
Yea , I really miss my guitars, but having fun teaching myself the keys. I'm finally learning how to read sheet music......lol

Steve Martin came over to London last year with his band and i curse my laziness for not going to see him perform. Really good banjoist.

I'd encourage you in your piano ambitions! I know that there are plenty of right hand compositions and arrangements for piano, not as much as for left hand but still many.
Once I came across a site with loads of sheet music only for the right hand but unfortunately I don't remember where, if I find it again I'll tell you.
