I think it's probably by Gershwin, but I'm not sure.

There appear to be at least three different compositions in that file—all of them very nice rags, very skillfully played.

Unfortunately, I know little about this genre aside from the few Joplin pieces that are familiar to most.  Any ragtime experts out there?

I doubt that it is Gershwin. I could be wrong, but there isn't anything that sounds specifically like Gershwin. These are all ragtime works and I don't recall Gershwin writing straightforward rags.

Rialto Ripples is the only thing that sounds a little like rag that Gershwin wrote, I think.

These are all someone's transcriptions for pianola of tunes by Gershwin (it's certainly not a solo pianist, and it sounds too well synchronised for two of them). That sort of thing was done very often in the heyday of the pianola. Not having listened very carefully, and being lamentably unaware of a lot of Gershwin's music (I know quite a few tunes but there are _hundreds_ more cracking ones out there), I reckon these are all medleys, perhaps each from a different show. Unfortunately the first person I would like to ask about these died a couple of years ago :-(

Marvellous stuff, anyway, thanks for uploading it! The third piece I think especially fine as a bit of transcription and pianola playing.
Instrumentalists are all wannabe singers. Discuss.

It seems to me that these are pieces by Zez Confrey.  Zez probably worked on the pianola mechanism more than anyone in his day.

Thanks! this definitely narrows it down, but any idea of the actual names of the pieces? They're real cool- I'd like to know.

If it's Zez and/or you find out the titles, please post.

Still don't know the exact piece but it's an Artis Wodehouse realization of a piano roll.
